The Guelph Connection Hockey Pool Rules and Regulations |
The
purpose of this venture is to create a pool which may continue through
the years. Hopefully we will each develop a team, and watch it grow,
simulating the growth of an NHL franchise. These rules have been
developed with that goal in mind, while also maintaining the
simplicity of the hockey pool.
Rules: Objective 1.1) First and foremost, if you intend to enter this pool, you must do so with the honest intention of keeping your franchise an active participate indefinitely. If you wish to quit your franchise will permanently be given to another manager. 2.1) Each manager will control one franchise which competes every year for the Guelph Connection championship. The hockey pool last for the duration of the regular NHL season, the last for weeks of the NHL regular season are the Guelph Connection hockey pools playoffs. These playoffs are tracked using the Guelph Connection website rather then the Yahoo fantasy website. The top 16 teams during the regular season leading up to the Guelph Connection playoffs qualify for the post season tournament. Trading etc. 3.1) Trades, Adds, Drops and Waivers will all work within the Yahoo fantasy pools rules and regulations (with the exception of draft picks), with a predetermined trading deadline, and no waiver deadline. Trades must be approved by the commissioner of the league, (when the commissioner is involved in a trade, another designated authority must approve the trade). Trades may involve players, draft picks or a combination of both. Daft picks can only be offered for the upcoming draft, and NOT for any years following. A list will be kept on the Guelph Connection hockey pool website of all the franchises availible draft picks. 3.2) Trade which involve draft picks MUST have an EQUAL number of draft picks going to each franchise. This will aid in the drafting process. During the draft, a manager who has traded away a draft pick must draft the player whom the other franchise requests. Once the draft is over, the players will be traded immediately to the appropriate team, in exchange for the player whom that manager drafted for you. It is imperative that if you can not be at the live draft you give you log in and password to the commissioner of the league to draft the traded picks for you. 3.3) After the determined trade deadline date has passed, a trade embargo will be in place between all teams until the end of the hockey pool playoffs. Once the playoffs are complete, the embargo will be lifted and teams are free to trade through the summer months leading up to the draft. Another trade embargo will be in place one week prior to the fall draft and will be lifted after immediately following the draft. 3.4) Loaning players will not be tolerated. If your franchise is deemed to be loaning players to another franchise only to receive them back at a later date, or taking advantage of the trading system in any way, the trades will not be approved by the commissioner and your franchise may face further punishment. Points 4) The player positions and point system is predetermined by the commissioner. Currently the player positions are C, C, LW, LW, RW, RW, D, D, D, D, G, G, (IR), IR) and the ststistical catagories are: Players: G(2), A(1), +/-(1), PM (0.5), PPG (2), PPA (1), SHG (2), SHA (1), GWG (3), GTG (2) Goalies: W(3), L(-1), T(1), Saves(0.1), SO(5) Protected Lists 5) One week prior to the fall draft each franchise must submit a protected list for their team. The protected list will include six players of any position with a maximum one goalie protected. These protected players will be included on your 16 man roster for the upcoming season, and the unprotected players will be sent back into the draft. The draft order is determined from the standings at the end of the previous regular season with the last place team drafting first and the first place team drafting last. Draft 6) The first six rounds of the draft will be spent drafting your protected list. You can not draft any play who is not on this list during the first 6 rounds. Once the first six rounds are complete you can draft anyone left on the free agent list. The draft will last a total of 16 rounds. Termination 7) If you wish to terminate your franchise, let the commissioner of hate league know and a replacement manager will be found for it. The roster will remain the same until the new manager takes control of the team. The league will control any franchise which starts the year with no manager. That franchises roster will be frozen until a new manager can be found. |
